STUDENTS of the Junior School recently embarked on an educational field trip to the North Eastern Handicraft and Handloom Development Corporation (NEHHDC). The trip was designed to provide students with a holistic understanding of the journey from fibre to fabric.
The visit also strived to immerse them in the rich cultural heritage and artistic traditions of the North Eastern region of India. During their visit, students were treated to a series of engaging demonstrations and explorations. They observed the intricate life cycle of Eri silk, witnessed the handicraft production process, and explored the unique facilities such as the Testing Laboratory and the Calendering & Card Punching Machine.
The highlight of the trip was the craft museum, which housed an extensive collection of traditional crafts and artefacts. This museum offered students a vivid glimpse into the cultural heritage of the North Eastern states. Students gained a comprehensive understanding of Eri silk production, handicraft manufacturing, and quality assurance processes.
